The challenge How BartyED helps
Consultancies forcing a student to fit a profile BartyED’s approach to admissions consultancy starts from the candidate, not the institution. We work with your child to determine their values and strengths, then play to that when crafting a compelling profile that will appeal to highly‑competitive universities.
A shortlist comprised of only reaches and safeties Our admissions consultants are trained to help candidates identify strong options for reaches, safeties and targets. There’s no use aiming too high or too low — a successful university candidate will envision the right fit for them.
Generic essays that don’t convey a candidate’s unique qualities and experiences University admission is only growing more competitive. BartyED’s team of admissions consultants offer insightful and effective feedback to ensure that every admissions essay is compelling and competitive.
Managing multiple application systems simultaneously — UCAS, Common App, individual university portals — while still sitting school exams BartyED’s admissions consultants manage the full timeline across all applications, with deadlines mapped to the student’s school timetable. Nothing is left to the final week.

How We Work

The admissions consulting process

01

Initial consultation

Jerome and an expert consultant meet with the student and family to understand academic history, subject strengths, extracurricular profile, and university ambitions. This then forms the basis for a tailor‑made consultancy proposal, outlining the appropriate support.

02

Profile‑shaping

The consultant works with the student every month to identify opportunities, gaps in their academics, and extracurricular development. This ensures that the student has a well‑developed and rounded profile to support strong applications in the summer of Grade 11 (Year 12).

03

Application and essay development

Our consultants work through every component of the application process — personal statements, supplemental essays, activity lists, and teacher recommendation briefings. Multiple drafts are reviewed and refined until the student’s voice shines through.

04

Interview and admissions test preparation

Some universities and courses — notably Oxbridge, Law and Medicine — require admissions tests and interviews. BartyED’s consultants provide individual, extensive feedback on admissions test preparation and mock interviews. They work with students to develop thoughtful, well‑supported answers that have the candidate standing out from the crowd.

05

Submission and follow‑through

BartyED diligently tracks all deadlines across multiple application platforms until the student submits their application. Support continues after through detailed discussion of successes, waitlists and final decisions.

For UK applications, ideally in the spring or summer before the October UCAS deadline — earlier if Oxbridge is in the picture, as written work and interview preparation take time. For US applications, the summer before Year 13 gives enough space to develop essays properly. That said, BartyED has supported students who came to us much later and still secured strong offers.

Yes. BartyED has supported applications to universities across Europe, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong. Get in touch with details of the institutions your child is considering and we can advise on what support is appropriate.

We begin with a structured interview to draw out the student’s interests, motivations, and experiences. From there, our consultants help build an outline, review multiple drafts, and refine the document over several sessions. The goal is a statement that sounds like the student — not like a template.

Yes. BartyED conducts structured mock Oxbridge interviews with feedback on both content and delivery. Sessions replicate the subject‑specific questioning style used at Oxford and Cambridge, including unseen problems and close reading exercises relevant to the subject.
